Parents

  • Letter to Parents of a Prospective Member

Welcome to the Sigma Nu Fraternity at the University of Illinois.  This is the beginning of what we, the alumni of the Sigma Nu Fraternity, hope will be a rich intellectual venture for your son.  As both an alumnus of the this fraternity and the father of an undergraduate member of Sigma Nu myself, I understand your excitement and trepidation as your son embarks on his studies at Illinois and explores membership in the U of I Greek Fraternity System.

Our Web site is designed to introduce both you and your son to Sigma Nu’s traditions, opportunities, principles, and responsibilities.  We hope this will answer some of your questions.

Sigma Nu is a fraternity of honor.  We teach the importance of ethics, good sportsmanship, and concern for your fellow man.  Sigma Nu Fraternity promotes unity and honor which is essential to their happiness and their dignity as gentlemen.

Sigma Nu is also a fraternity that welcomes the participation of the parents of our members in the range of educational programs presented by the Sigma Nu Illinois Alumni Association.  See, for example, Sigma Nu Fraternity’s 4-year LEAD Program, described at www.SigmaNu.org.  In addition, all parents of active members are members of the Sigma Nu Illinois Parents Association.

Our Web site is designed to introduce both you and your son to Sigma Nu’s traditions, opportunities, principles, and responsibilities.  We hope this will answer some of your questions.

As you visit our site, I hope you will become increasingly aware of the dedication of the Sigma Nu Alumni, our national fraternity, and our active members to develop ethical leaders through active participation in our fraternity, extracurricular activities, and service to the larger community outside the fraternity’s walls.  As a fraternity, these activities are infused with the energy, warmth and fun of sharing a common purpose.

    Sincerely,
