We, the members of Gamma Mu, speak on behalf of the past, the present, and most importantly the future of our fraternity, and each of the following we resolve:
Recruitment and Manpower
Our fraternity’s membership will be composed of only top quality men, which is of paramount importance. It is our goal to have fifty active members in fall 2008 and strive to have a total of 100 active members by recruiting with our values, having fun, knowing the importance of diversity, promoting LEAD and having our members be excited and confident about recruitment. We will have the philosophy of year-round recruitment as well as having quantity AND quality members.
Member Education
Our members’ education will focus on implementing and taking all five phases of the LEAD program seriously, investing in each man’s personal growth and development, understanding and upholding the values of non-hazing and teaching by example how to bring honor to ourselves and to our fraternity in our daily lives.
Alumni Relations
We will foster close relationships with our alumni by reaching out and seeking open communication and collaboration, creating and maintaining an Alumni section on the website, implementing an Alumni mentoring/networking program, hosting more Alumni events and developing a defined Alumni Relations Chairman and plan.
Finances
Our fraternity will be financially stable by PAYING DUES, creating an organized and effective budget, eliminating out-of-pocket expense, embracing a philosophy of successful fundraising, spending wisely, and saving responsibly.
Social
We will have a positive social reputation for being fun, respectful of others, genuine, chivalrous, and respectable gentlemen. We will host tasteful and inviting social activities on and around campus within the parameters of Sigma Nu’s Risk Reduction Policy and Guidelines, focusing on brotherhood development and high-minded socializing with campus sororities and other organizations, while getting our name out and setting ourselves apart on campus.
Scholarship
Our fraternity’s scholarship will consistently rank in the top 5 of fraternities at U of I. We recognize that having consistent study hours, maintaining a current study file system and utilizing a mentor/tutor program are all critical components for our individual and collective achievement. Each member will resolve to be a better student.
Campus Leadership
Our fraternity will set an example on campus and in the classroom by having a high percentage of our membership represented in other student organizations and by demonstrating leadership on campus. We would like to create an anti-hazing RSO and a mentoring program for students outside of the house.
Chapter Home
We will be devoted to having strong participation in a consistent clean-up program and effectively run house projects while having an organized storage system. We will all have a common attitude of having RESPECT and PRIDE for our chapter home.
Chapter Leadership
Our chapter leadership will radiate positive reinforcement and communication, establish needed positions, ensure effective transitions and lead by example.
Risk Reduction
We will create a safe, non-threatening environment where we all take responsibility for our fraternity, for ourselves, and for each other, minimizing the risk we take by effectively implementing Sigma Nu’s Risk Reduction Policy & Guidelines, and formulating a Crisis Management Program for a secure home.
Service and Philanthropy
We will develop an annual philanthropy, identifying a recipient charity and forming an organized attack plan for service hours for which each member devotes a minimum of 5 service hours per semester.
Interfraternity Activities
As a part of a greater Greek community, our fraternity will foster positive associations with other organizations, maintain cooperative relationships by participating in other Greek events, increase involvement in IFC and Kolousis organizations and we shall win the flag football tournament.
